During the month of June Joshua successfully completed the Magisterial
District Judge Certification Course at the Pennsylvania Judicial Center
in Harrisburg.
The course consists of approximately four weeks of instruction, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each day, and a final examination. The course is open to any interested Pennsylvania resident eligible to hold public office and those prospective Magisterial District Judges required to attend by the Judicial Code and the Pennsylvania Constitution as cited below:
“Magisterial District Judges, Arraignment Court Magistrates and Judges of the Philadelphia Traffic Court who are not members of
the bar of this Commonwealth shall complete a course of training and
instruction in the duties of their respective offices and pass an examination prior to assuming office.” Judicial Code (42 Pa C.S.A. §3112)“Judges of the Traffic Court in the City of Philadelphiaand justices of the peace (Magisterial District Judges) shall be members of the bar of the Supreme Court or shall complete a course of training and instruction in the duties of their respective offices and pass an examination prior to assuming office. Individuals who are not members of the Pennsylvania Bar seeking to hold the office of Magisterial District Judge must be certified prior to assuming office.
We are proud to say that Joshua successfully completed this very challenging course, becoming the only candidate in his district to obtain the certification required to take office as Magisterial District Judge. Joshua is now prepared to serve you at the conclusion of the election!
